What to expect on sundays
Parking
River Presbyterian meets at 1053 Leonard St. SW, Grand Rapids, MI. We are a mile west of US-131 and a mile north of I-196. We share a space with West Leonard Christian Reformed Church. We also share parking lots on Sunday mornings! This means parking in the two lots behind the church building is limited, but there is additional parking on the side streets.
Connect with a greeter
You can enter the building through the north or south doors of the newer addition of West Leonard. Those doors will lead you into the lower lobby where you will be welcomed by one of our greeters. If you have any questions, they’ll be happy to assist you.
Have kids?
We believe the worship service is for everyone—including our kids! Your kids are welcome to participate in the worship service. Many of us have younger children and so we’re used to the noises of kids in the service! But we also know some parents find it helpful to have a nursery where their youngest kids can be cared for during the service. We offer a nursery for children aged 0-2. The nursery is located downstairs next to the elevator. The nursery is attended by at least two adult female volunteers.
before the service
Between September and May, we have adult and children’s Sunday School classes that take place between 10:00-10:45 AM. Many people choose to come early for those classes; however, other people will show up after Sunday School finishes. Between Sunday School and the start of our service, people enjoy a cup of coffee in the fellowship hall downstairs and chat with each other before finding a seat in the auditorium upstairs.
worship service
Our worship service starts at 11:00 AM. When you come enter the auditorium, a greeter will give you an outline of the worship service so you can follow along. Before the service starts there will be a couple announcements. Our services consist of Bible readings, singing, prayer, and a 35-minute sermon based off that morning’s Bible passage. We will also take a voluntary collection where members and friends of River Presbyterian Church give back to God as an act of worship. The service ends by 12:15 PM.
