Church Leadership
Wayne Veenstra | Pastor
Wayne married Suzanne in 2011. Together they have a daughter and three sons. Wayne and Suzanne are both Canadian by birth, having moved to Grand Rapids after getting married so that Wayne could complete his theological training. Wayne served on staff at Harvest Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Wyoming, MI for ten years prior to being sent out as the church planter for River Presbyterian Church in 2025. When he’s not writing sermons or organizing his thoughts in spreadsheets, Wayne enjoys watching and playing baseball (Go Blue Jays!), reading on a wide range of subjects, and tending to his rose garden.
Andrew Gent | Elder
Andrew and Katie Gent—along with their three kids—live in Grand Rapids. Andrew works for GE Aviation. Andrew’s love for Christ’s church has expressed itself in various ways over the years as a Sunday School teacher, Growth Group leader, and a ruling elder.
Adam Post | Elder
Adam is married to Amanda and together they have three children. Adam’s leadership skills and his love for people have been used in the church as he’s served as an elder, deacon, trustee, and Growth Group leader. Adam works in the healthcare industry.
Harold Schnyders | Elder
Harold moved with his wife Beth from Chicago to Northeast Grand Rapids over 20 years ago. They have six children and have been members in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church since 2010. Harold is a faculty member at Grand Valley State University where he teaches physics.
Deacons
Our deacons lead our congregation in showing the mercy of Jesus to our church and our community.
Jordan Veurink | Deacon
Jordan and Corissa have been married since 2016. Together they have four children and seek to show the compassion of Jesus by also serving as foster parents. Jordan was ordained in 2022 and enjoys serving as a deacon because he loves helping people.
Ryan Wiersma | Deacon
Ryan and his wife Janna have four children. Ryan was ordained as a deacon in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in 2022. Ryan has a big heart for people which is also expressed in his employment as a healthcare worker.

Harvest OPC Oversight
River Presbyterian Church is a church plant under the oversight of the elders at Harvest Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Wyoming, Michigan. Committed to planting churches, Harvest originally sent out 90 people to start a church plant in Northwest Grand Rapids and has provided the people, prayer, encouragement, and financial support that has been essential to getting River Presbyterian started.
