Why River?

In the Bible, rivers feature prominently as an image of life-giving power. Already in the opening scenes of the Bible, we see rivers flowing out of the garden to support life in the world that God had made. Not surprisingly then, we see rivers or streams of water regularly used as a picture of the life and redemption found in Jesus.

In the Gospel of John, Jesus uses this imagery himself when he says, “If anyone thirsts (spiritually), let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Only those who trust in Jesus come to experience the spiritual life that he alone can provide.

In 2025, River Presbyterian Church was started in Northwest Grand Rapids to establish a community of people who are inviting others to experience the full, free, and endless life that is in found in Jesus and received through faith in him alone.

If you do not currently have a church home, we would love for you to join us at River Presbyterian.

beliefs

The Bible is our only infallible guide to what we must believe concerning God and how we are to live before him. As a confessional church, we also adopt statements of faith that we believe accurately summarize the Bible’s teaching. If you’d like to learn more about what we believe the Bible teaches, you can access the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms at the link below.
